The menu will act as a “remote control” for Rhythmbox allowing users to change track, start playlists and display artwork, although it allows for any music player to use it.
VoIP applications will also see themselves well served by the new menu with handy sliders for Microphone/input volume and automated fade in/fade out of music upon received call.
It’s also worth noting that whilst the default music player for Ubuntu has yet to be decided on, Banshee, in addition to Rhythmbox, is being sought to be compatible with the new menu.
